so a while back, somebody sent in an anonymous comment asking me to chime in on cool and interesting things coming up in richmond.  i’m not sure that i’m the most qualified, but here are some upcoming things that i’m definitely taking part in:

thursday june 3 - sunday june 6: greek festival

the greek festival is AMAZING.  if you are a fan of greek food, you must stop by this awesome festival.  the food is great, there’s cheap greek wine, and DANCING!  the crowds are definitely a little crazy, so try to go at a weird time.

sunday june 6: broad appetit

of all the days that i’m stoked to live on broad st., this is hands down the best.  richmond shuts down broad st. and local restaurants set up tents to sell food.  while it makes for a parking nightmare for me, it’s amazing to wake up on sunday to find that every great restaurant in richmond is down on the street in front of my house, sampling their amazing menu items.  bring cash and try a little something from all your favorite restaurants.

thursday, june 10: riot before record release show

i’ve loved this band for years and i think they’re one of richmond’s finest.  they definitely deserve more love from richmond.  last year they recorded an incredible record with one of my favorite producers, j. robbins.  the result is one of 2010’s best records of the year.  the show is at strange matter and they’ll be selling copies of the record.  this is a “do not miss” show.  bring cash and pick up this amazing album.  also, come early to see another amazing virginia band WORN IN RED.

friday, june 11: seas / autocue / long division show

SEAS, as you know, is the first artist on my little record label.  the DC band is playing a weekend of shows with richmond band autocue and va beach’s long division.  the richmond show is at gallery 5 and it promises to be quite awesome.  i’ve been preaching about the amazingness of SEAS for some time now, so if you haven’t taken the opportunity to come out to a live show, you really should take the chance.  it’s a band that really comes to life in a live environment.  i will be there selling records, so you can come by the merch table and give me a high-five.
