i found out yesterday i’m going to be doing some business travel this week.  it’s just a two-day trip and trust me when i tell you it’s not going to anywhere exotic.
despite the fact that i can’t wear my jeans (ugh. khakis!), i always get really excited about travel, even if it’s just for a work meeting somewhere.  the packing, the airport, the hotel… all of it still holds all of its novelty.
i think about the people who travel a lot for work and i can tell that all the excitement of travel is completely gone.  i imagine that at some point in my career, going on a work trip will just be obnoxious instead of somewhat exciting.  i hope that i’m able to hold that off for as long as possible.
the silly excitement of traveling in a plane and looking out the window at a giant sea of clouds is the closest at my age that i’ll ever feel to being a kid again.  i hope i never lose that.
