So now that I’m a proud kitten owner, I tend to peruse the Craigslist pets section.  I don’t know what I’m looking for - maybe some awesome cat command center I can buy on the cheap.. who knows?

Anyway, it turns out the Pets section is also a great place to go if you want to get depressed and pissed off at the same time.  I’ve read entry after entry of people who are trying to quickly unload their pets because their living situation is changing.  Some lady today was like “My landlord is coming tomorrow and I need to get rid of my cats ASAP.  Please don’t make me take them to a shelter!”

Pardon me, but HOLD THE FUCK ON.  If you aren’t prepared to own a cat for 20 years, you SHOULD NOT OWN A CAT.  When you make that decision to care for an animal, it can’t just be on a whim until it’s not convenient anymore.  LIVE IN A PLACE THAT ALLOWS PETS.  BE PREPARED TO PAY ADDITIONAL EXPENSE TO MOVE AN ANIMAL.  God, it makes me sick.

Anyway, I was just feeling ranty about this.  I’m sure all you people who read the blog are lovely wonderful pet owners who wouldn’t abandon your little dudes.
