mike patton of faith no more - washington dc, 1997
so, i took this photo the last time i saw faith no more before they broke up.  i was in the front row.  i showed up to the 9:30 club in the early afternoon wanting to guarantee a spot up front.  we’re talking like five hours before doors.  i was 16 years old and faith no more was, in my mind at the time, the greatest band in the world.  the first cassette (!!!) that i bought when i was 10 in 1990 was faith no more’s second album “the real thing”.
to say that this band has had an impact on my life musically would be a gross understatement.  they were THE band for me during most of my teenage years.
so the fact that 13 years after i took this photo, i get to drive up to NYC and see them play another show is something that i don’t think i’ve fully even processed yet.  it’s going to be so incredible to relive those feelings i had as a teenager, watching my favorite band.
i don’t listen to faith no more much anymore these days.  i’m sure it will come as a shock to you that my music tastes have changed a bit since i was 17, but it will be a blast to watch a band that i loved so much, sing along to all the words, and having the time of my life.
i’m glad i bit the bullet and got my ticket.
