oldkingcrow asked: Have you always lived in Richmond and/or VA in general? I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley. Virginia's a great place, especially if you're a history buff.

My dad was in the military, so I moved around a lot as a kid.  I was born in Ohio and lived in Alabama and Utah as well.  But I’ve lived in Virginia the longest.  I spent most of my youth living in the suburbs of Washington DC.  It was a great place to grow up, but somewhere I don’t think I could ever live again.

After college in southwestern VA, I relocated to another small town in the Shenandoah Valley called Harrisonburg.  I lived there about a year or so until I relocated here to Richmond in 2004.  I’ve been here ever since.

Richmond definitely feels like home now.  The city is truly one of my favorites, and I’ve been to a lot of cities across the country.  However, I do miss being near the mountains and the quiet life in the Shenandoah Valley.  I think that’s a place I’d like to settle down if I can somehow figure out a way to do it and not totally derail my career.  I think it’d be a good place to retire.

So yeah, Virginia is my home.
