Anonymous asked: Nothing against your glasses but have you ever considered contacts?

You anonymous folks are really stepping up the questions game and I dig it.  Good question!

I have worn contacts on and off for years and I wore them pretty steadily a few years back.  In April of 2008, I got into a pretty serious bike accident.  I broke pretty much every bone in my face with the exception of my jaw and had several surgeries to fix things.  Today I have five metal plates in my face that will be there for the rest of my life.

Thankfully, I recovered fully and my face, which could have looked DRASTICALLY different, more or less looks exactly the same as it did before.  I pick up on very subtle things that are different, but I don’t think most people could even tell any difference.  I file this one under “unbelievably fucking lucky”.

So anyway, when they went into operate, they made an incision right under my eyes.  This scar was the last to heal and for almost a year and a half, I could see the scars pretty clearly although to most people I imagine they looked like those tired lines you sometimes get under your eyes.

I reverted back to glasses on a more-or-less permanent basis mainly because I was self-conscious about these scars.  The glasses helped to mask them.

However, almost two years later, I feel like the scars are almost invisible.  I don’t feel like I look “slightly off” anymore in photographs without glasses.  So, I think I might start wearing contacts more on the regular.  I certainly don’t have a problem with that and could be into it.

I dunno, that was a really damn long story.  What do you guys think?  Glasses or no glasses?  Let’s party!
