ROBOT E. LEE….. PART 2 (THE FUTURE)
(a synopsis of a future screenplay - copyright phil 2009)
The year is 2365.  The far distant future.
Richmond is now a bustling metropolis with flying cars, jetpacks, and giant neon billboards.  Robert E. Lee steps into a world that is completely foreign to him.
Trying not to draw too much attention to himself, Lee quickly makes his way to where he hopes the state capitol building still stands.  He seeks a statue of George Washington, dedicated in 1850, inside which is hidden large sums of gold.  The gold was hidden away during the war for the express purpose of being retrieved in the future by the Confederate operative.  He finds the statue, still standing after all these years, and turns the secret latch to open up the compartment.  He retrieves the large sums of gold and hides it in a large satchel and makes his way into the night.
Several weeks pass.  Lee makes his way through this future city of Richmond, staying out of sight, obtaining proper clothes and trying to adopt the colloquialisms of these modern people.  He travels through the seedy underbelly of the city, in search of corrupt souls who can secure the weaponry he so desperately desires.
He finally meets a corrupt weapons dealer who is willing to help him.  He hands over the vast sums of gold and is told to meet him at a secret location.
Upon arrival, Lee is shown a room with a hospital bed, a large amount of machinery, and a wall of what appears to be advanced and dangerous weaponry - lazer guns, cannons, etc.  Lee asks what weapons the money he provided can buy.  The weapons dealer laughs and replies..
“Mr. Lee, you don’t understand.  You asked for a superweapon.  It is YOU who will become this superweapon.”
Lee feels an injection in the back of his neck as he slowly loses consciousness.
The next several days are spent in a haze as Lee goes in and out of consciousness.  The bright light of lazers fill the room and he is aware of an acute sensation of metallic objects being fused to his body.  He screams and loses consciousness again.
Lee awakes in a hospital bed, somewhere completely different.  He is delirious and confused.  He looks down at his body.  Where his left arm once was is now a giant metal lazer cannon.  He can immediately sense a strength inside him that was not there before.  Lee isn’t fully aware of this yet, but he has become superhuman.
He looks up to see a man in a labcoat.  The man in the labcoat explains to him that he was dropped off at the front door of the emergency room, near death.  The superweapons that were fused to Lee’s body were being rejected by his immune system.  He was in a coma for three weeks.  Thanks to modern medicine, his life was spared, but they could not reverse the process.
Robert E. Lee was now half-man, half-robot.
