sony’s “soundville”: seyðisfjörður, iceland.
i find it oh-so-strange and serendipitous where seemingly disconnected pieces of my life connect in weird and interesting ways.
it’s been several months since i left my last job, and many of you know me in real life, so i feel safe in talking about how my last agency job was working on the client business for sony electronics. for years, i was deeply immersed in the world of all things sony.
well, today i discovered a new campaign called “soundville” (thanks to josh) from the ad agency fallon in london for sony’s audio division.
sony went to the small fishing village of seyðisfjörður in the eastfjords of iceland and installed sony speakers throughout the entire town and surrounding areas. then they played music from various artists like death in vegas and bob dylan and filmed the whole thing.
the results are beautiful. i’m not sure how the villagers felt after a little while, but it makes for a pretty impressive short film. and the music does sound pretty amazing.
nice job, sony! way to go, iceland!
