hello america! good morning!
here in iceland, it’s already mid-afternoon. but my sleep schedule is so fucked up, it doesn’t even matter.
clayton and i arrived safe and sound just before dawn in keflavik, iceland’s airport. we made it smoothly through customs and headed off to the duty free store. there we purchased a bottle of gin and a bottle of vodka (party mode) and bought several six packs of iceland’s most popular beer “viking” (icelandic party mode).
the booze here is incredibly expensive, so buying it duty free at the airport is your best bet.
we rode in a cab to reykjavik and i quizzed our driver on how to pronounce all the town names we are going to. i also asked her stuff like “what’s your favorite restaurant in town?” to which she replied something like “alkdsjf;lksdj” and i was like “oh okay, great!” by the way, alkdsjf;lksdj is an italian restaurant.
so, we got to our hotel way too early to check in, so we walked down a block to kaffitar, a world-renowned coffee shop here in iceland. i had my first ever cafe latte, or kaffi latti, as they’re called here. i don’t drink coffee, but i figured, when in iceland, why the hell not? it was delicious and possibly habit-forming.
after chilling for a while, we finally got access to our room and promptly fell asleep for a power nap. we’re all kinds of fucked up with our sleep schedule, so we’re just gonna try to do our best with what we’ve got.
that’s all the time i have. we’re off to a giant cathedral and to do some shopping and then eventually find dinner.
after that, ICELANDIC BAR HOPPING also known as “runtur”. wish us luck.
