antony & the johnsons - crazy in love

i think it’s safe to say that my favorite thing in the world is sad music.  i think i could listen only to the most sad depressing music 24 hours a day and be completely content.

i just appreciate the emotion and the intensity of a well-written sad song.  for whatever reason, i don’t sink into a pit of depression after listening to sad music for hours on end, so i can enjoy it relatively safely.

within the niche of ridiculously sad music, there is something i especially love - when an artist covers a happy pop song and makes it sound really sad and haunting.  this is quite possibly my FAVORITE thing.  mark kozelek is an expert at this.  aereogramme does quite a good job as well.

one of my favorite “sad” artists is antony & the johnsons.  the first time i heard antony was in a duet he did with bjork on the album volta.  i’ve been in love with his unique voice ever since.  i stumbled upon this little gem - a cover of beyonce’s “crazy in love”.  so amazing.
