i absolutely love fall.
i am giddy for it. every year, the excitement i feel as the temperature starts to cool down is ridiculous. fall is my favorite time of the year.
i think about why i love fall so much and i think it has a lot to do with all the associated traditions that come with this time of year. since that’s the case, i’ve kicked off this fall in the best way possible.
this weekend i joined lauren and her family at a nearby cider mill just outside their town. we drank tons of apple cider (hot and cold), ate cider donuts, and tried our hand at a corn maze. all we needed was a big pumpkin pie and we would have hit all of fall’s major food highlights. it was awesome.
to continue the awesomeness, on our way back to philly, lauren and i stopped off at some outlet stores where she helped me pick out some seriously awesome sweaters. i’ve always been more of a hoodie guy, but i’ve been trying to dress up my look now that i’m a grown ass man (30 years grown to be exact) and i need to start looking the part. i picked up my first ever cardigan and some other nice sweaters that will help me achieve that layered fashionable look that people who know what they’re doing always make look so effortless.
this weekend, to keep the ball rolling, my friends and i are heading down to duck, NC to stay at bill’s beach house. too cold for the beach? yes. but, can we still have fun? absolutely. i’m thinking beach bonfires, s’mores, walks along the shore, chilling in the hot tub, and just overall relaxing with friends. it should be pretty perfect.
the rest of the season is an open book. i’m starting to plan out my other favorite fall activities - haunted hayrides, hikes/drives to look at the leaves, pumpkin pie-flavored everything, maybe a few civil war battlefields in the mix. it’s going to be over before we know it, so i’m planning to enjoy it as much as possible while it’s still here.
