faith no more - reunited (and it feels so good)

from the years of 1989 - 2000, my favorite band ever was FAITH NO MORE.  i geeked out HARD for this band.  their video for “epic” was the first music video i ever saw.  the album “the real thing” was the first cassette tape i ever purchased.  i own every album, every EP, b-sides, singles, rarities.  i even used to collect bootleg cassettes and videos of the band’s live shows.  when i was 16, i finally got to see them live at the 9:30 club.  pressed up against the edge of the stage, i sang my heart out and it remains the best live show i’ve ever seen.

now i’m older and probably more jaded.  and i listen to faith no more and it definitely sounds a little dated.  i don’t listen much these days, but when i do, i get this wave of nostalgia for this band i loved so much.

last fall, faith no more announced a reunion tour.  they are playing only european shows so far, but if it comes to the U.S. (which i suspect it will) I am going to get tickets, show up early, press up right against the front of the stage and sing like i’m 16 again.  i can’t wait.

this video is from the first show faith no more played on their reunion tour.  they played the brixton academy in the UK.  having seen them a few times and listened to countless bootlegs, i learned one thing FNM loved to do was play ridiculous over-the-top cover songs.  this is no exception.  they hadn’t played a song together in 12 years and they came on stage (wearing cream-colored suits, no less) for their first song and played a peaches and herb cover song, “reunited”.  it kicks in nicely around the 2:00 minute mark.  sorry the video quality is so terrible, but it’s too funny not to share.

at least it’s funny to me, anyway. and maybe like the 1-2 other faith no more fans who might stumble across this blog.  the rest of you, move along!  nothing to see here!
