the photos are still in the works, but i figured now was a good a time as any to recap my star wars dance party.
it was absolutely the best party i’ve ever thrown and i’m so lucky to have the support of my friends and the backing of cous cous to basically let me do whatever i want in their amazing bar.  my favorite part of the night was somewhat of a poorly-kept secret surprise.  i knew that the star wars costumes alone would be pretty crazy and awesome, but i wanted my party to have something that people would talk about for years to come.  i wanted to have stormtroopers guarding the door of the bar.  after a few weeks of begging, pleading, and sending out random e-mails, i discovered i had a professional acquaintance who owned stormtrooper armor and did events.    he and his friend volunteered their time and manned the door, checking IDs and intimidating the attendees as they walked in.  it completely set the mood for the event and made it so awesome.  like i said earlier, it was a surprise for a lot of folks, but i’d blabbed to most of my friends by that point.  still, it was awesome.

i dressed as obi-wan kenobi, complete with white hair dye in my hair and beard.  i spent more than i should, but it was totally worth it.  thanks ebay!  lauren totally went with an obscure costume - dressing up as cindel from the 80’s made-for-tv ewok movies.

there were SO many good costumes.  some people went ALL out.  some people went for “silly”.  basically, anyone who put on a costume is a winner in my book.  but if i had to pick a reigning champion, the award would have to go to my buddy dan.  he put together the most insane home-made C-3PO costume I have ever seen.  People APPLAUDED when he walked in to the party.  i was so amazed.  well played, dan.

the night ended and i was so unbelievably happy.  not to mention drunk.  thanks to those who bought me shots.  yikes.  what a way to ring in 30 years on earth.
the question is - how am i ever going to top this party?
