so i get it. i buy into the hype. gmail is supposed to revolutionize my entire life.
i’ve been quietly beta-testing gmail for months now. i’ve had an account for years for all the business type things like.. sending resumes and whatnot. and the band e-mail account was the one i always used for the day-to-day e-mail. well, brand new disaster e-mail came and went when that band died. and now it seems a little weird to still be using my olympia e-mail address. so i need something a little more permanent.. and gmail it is.
however, it doesn’t matter how amazing gmail is.. it’s still a fucking huge pain in the ass to switch e-mail addresses.
i’ve got important e-mails stored away on the olympia account that i’m gonna have to forward over and i’m still figuring out labels vs. folders and all the other weird quirks that make gmail work.
not to mention, my olympia e-mail address never created an address book, so there’s really no effective way for me to send out a mass e-mail to the world indicating i’m switching over to gmail.
i’m sure i’ll get the hang of it soon, but for now it’s just stressful.
gmail. here i come. be gentle.
gmail and the rest of my life
