this past weekend i bid a fond farewell to summer.
for as much shit as i talk on my least-favorite season, i’m always a little sad to see summer go, although i’d never admit that in conversation.  for all the sweating and the misery, summer’s best moments - hanging out underneath waterfalls, jumping off of docks, swimming pool antics - are hard to find replacements for during the colder months.
this past weekend, the gang met up in deltaville for diana’s birthday.  her family owns a house right on the bay.  we spent the day hanging dockside, relaxing, napping, and swimming all day long.  the night was spent laughing and dancing with friends.  it was beyond perfect.
we had amazing weather right up until we went to bed late saturday night.  we fell asleep just as the rain started pattering on the outside of our tent.  we awoke the next morning, still dry, but barely - packed up our stuff and headed home in the drizzle.  on the drive back, i couldn’t help but reflect back on the summer, one of the best in recent memory, and think that it’s not really all that bad.  it’s no autumn leaves, hoodies, and campfires - but when done right, it can be pretty spectacular.
